One Response to What’s your life philosophy?

  1. David Carr says:

    Attitude, Altitude, Gratitude and Latitude

The philosophy of a full life is by David Carr….

We choose to increase our positive attitude by decreasing our negative thoughts and focus on problems. By writing and reading a daily inventory of the experiences, people and accomplishments we are grateful for, we begin to experience more consistent gratitude. Each day we read the previous day’s list we will recognize, write down and connect more positive experiences. Each day we will find our attitude changing a little

As we increase and consistently review the inventory of gratitude, we cognitively increase our attitude – moving from a perspective of challenge and difficulty to one of joy and appreciation of the moment, and all that is good in our world.

Our Altitude is how high we fly in our daily life and our interactions with others. Do we greet people with optimism or stress? Do we ask how others are doing and how we can help, or do we complain or withdraw? Do we ask questions and imagine solutions or do we stand on old, divisive ground?

Our Latitude is the new found strength, confidence and affect of our new attitude of gratitude and new height personal altitude.

Our Latitude defines how far we reach and share with others. How many places can we make a difference, big or small, in the daily walk of our life? Do we seek to do good and make a difference, or do we focus on our personal gain, often at the expense of others? Do we make a commitment to investing in the future instead of profiting excessively in the present? Do we consider the Earth to be a mine of commodities to be exploited, or a precious resource that can nourish the next seven generations and beyond? Do we look at our community as a place to serve us, or a place to reach out and volunteer our time, talent and resources?

Our Altitude of Personal Altruism affects how we are seen, experienced and remembered by those we meet and share life with. As we seek opportunities for caring, sharing and smile wearing, we radiate the living essence of attitude, gratitude and altitude towards others, thus being beacon of goodness and optimism in the world we inhabit
