Corporate Citizenship Every successful corporation has a responsibility to use its resources and influence to make a positive impact on the world and its people. Microsoft’s Global Citizenship Initiative is focused on mobilizing our resources across the company and around the world, to create opportunities in the communities where we do business, and to fulfill our commitment to serving the public good through innovative technologies and partnerships.
Microsoft Community Affairs provides training and tools that create the social and economic opportunities that can transform communities and help people realize their potential. Through our programs and our partnerships, Microsoft supports numerous projects and organizations around the world working to expand opportunities, and help improve digital inclusion, through technology access and training.
Empower Youth to Change Their World
The world stands at a crossroads. While there are more young people on the planet than ever before, youth unemployment is double that of the adult population. Countries are struggling to develop modern workforces due to the growing gap between the skills of unemployed workers and the skills needed to perform the jobs of today and tomorrow.
Today’s young people face an opportunity divide – a gap between those who have the access, skills and opportunities to be successful and those who do not. Closing this opportunity divide is one of the most important actions we can all take to secure the future of our youth and the future of our global economy.
Microsoft YouthSpark is a companywide initiative designed to create opportunities for hundreds of millions of youth around the world. Through partnerships with governments, nonprofits and businesses, we aim to empower youth to imagine and realize their full potential by connecting them with greater education, employment, and entrepreneurship opportunities. We want to empower youth to change their world. Learn More
Make your cause our cause
Microsoft has the technology and resources to empower your nonprofit to do more. Whether you are a small organization serving a single community or a global nonprofit serving millions of people, we can help through software donations, training, and monetary grants.
We currently provide software donations to more than 40,000 organizations each year, and we’re just getting started. Many nonprofit organizations–including some in your local community–are not aware that they can request a donation of Microsoft software. Help us spread the word so that everyone can gain access to affordable technology. Watch the video to learn more.

Fulfilling our responsibilities
At Microsoft, how we work is just as important as the products we make and all that we do to support our local communities. Our behavior affects all of our stakeholders – customers, shareholders, employees, communities, suppliers, and partners. We work across our business to be a responsible partner to all of the people who place their trust in us. We think about our work in this area in four ways:
Disaster and humanitarian response
At Microsoft, we are driven by our passion to make a difference in people’s everyday lives. Supporting humanitarian relief and disaster management efforts is core to our commitment to develop technology solutions, tools, and practices that can foster social and economic change. Learn More
