Toxic outcome from spraying

English: Spraying pesticide in California

English: Spraying pesticide in California (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

Despite marketing spin and availability, pesticides, herbicides and chemical fertilizers are not very safe for humans and the environment. When sprayed on our backyards, city parks and in industrial agriculture as they are across the nation, cumulative effects of toxic residue, in the biosphere, can have lasting effects. This over use of chemicals is suspected to be a cause of the widespread bee and bat colony collapse and is affecting ecosystems all the way up the food chain to humans. From local lakes, creeks and rivers to the exponentially growing dead zones in the sea, and from lawns, gardens and farms to the atmosphere, the petroleum intensive production and use of these toxic chemicals is a major cause of climate change. Listen in to hear about some safe alternatives to these toxic, petro-based chemicals.

Teachers: agents of change for nature

Capillary wave/Ripple effect

Respect for nature, where does it start? Teachers, scholars, and advocates of sustainable lifestyles from all levels of education are emphatic that respect for nature starts during childhood. They say knowledge, based in healthy respect for Nature and ecosystems, is key to cultural transitions to a cleaner, more just and sustainable future. Many believe outdoor education provides our youth with a deeper environmental ethic that can be a strong antidote to status-quo climate-changing behaviors. Wanna hear more? Your Home Will Be Your Power Company…Sun + Water = Fuel

Granf Canyon & The BIOS WaterCar

Grand Canyon & The BIOS WaterCar

In order to dispel some of the criticism over the water for fuel technology, we thought we would share what other respected authorities are working on.  The recovery act provided a  $4 million grant to Dan Nocera of MIT to work on water for fuel technology.  In short, the powers to be believe!  Get the full story by clicking on the link below.

Your home could power your car and your home! At The BIOS Organization we are developing a 72′ Convertible Mustang that uses water for fuel.  We traveled through 28 states in 28 days meeting with experts, mechanics and scientists.  After 3 configurations we were able to achieve a 58% increase in gas mileage.  This year we will begin the BIOS World Peace Tour.  We will visit elementary schools teaching peace through energy independence.

The Green Marketing Company and our publication THE GOOD WORD are working diligently to raise funds for the project.  Advertising with us helps move the project forward.

We are currently in the process of raising $30,000 to install the third generation of hydrogen systems in the car that may allow the car to run completely on water.  The car’s engine has been totally rebuilt and awaits re-installation.  Before we head out on tour this year we will have the car completely rebuilt and outfitted with an audio video  to assist with our presentations.

Would you like to spotlight your business?  Our first trip began at WTNH the New Haven ABC affiliate.  We filmed 7 spots that were viewed by millions.  The system didn’t even work at that time. This time around the system will be  tried and true and the coverage will be substantial.  Contact us today to discuss how we can help each other email Time4Change@BiosWaterCar.com

$1 million budget: Our second fund raising drive will be to create a professional documentary showcasing the technology, the world peace tour and the personal  stories behind the project.

COLUMBINE STUDENT’S FATHER 12 YEARS LATER!!

Picture and post from Dennis Peace http://www.facebook.com/dennispeace1

Picture and post from Dennis Peace http://www.facebook.com/dennispeace1

Guess our national leaders didn’t expect this. On Thursday, Darrell Scott, the father of Rachel Scott, a victim of the Columbine High School shootings in Littleton, Colorado, was invited to address the House Judiciary Committee‘s subcommittee. What he said to our national leaders during this special session of Congress was painfully truthful.
They were not prepared for what he was to say, nor was it received well. It needs to be heard by every parent, every teacher, every politician, every sociologist, every psychologist, and every so-called expert! These courageous words spoken by Darrell Scott are powerful, penetrating, and deeply personal. There is no doubt that God sent this man as a voice crying in the wilderness. The following is a portion of the transcript:

“Since the dawn of creation there has been both good &evil in the hearts of men and women. We all contain the seeds of kindness or the seeds of violence. The death of my wonderful daughter, Rachel Joy Scott, and the deaths of that heroic teacher, and the other eleven children who died must not be in vain. Their blood cries out for answers.
“The first recorded act of violence was when Cain slew his brother Abel out in the field. The villain was not the club he used.. Neither was it the NCA, the National Club Association. The true killer was Cain, and the reason for the murder could only be found in Cain’s heart.
“In the days that followed the Columbine tragedy, I was amazed at how quickly fingers began to be pointed at groups such as the NRA. I am not a member of the NRA. I am not a hunter. I do not even own a gun. I am not here to represent or defend the NRA – because I don’t believe that they are responsible for my daughter’s death. Therefore I do not believe that they need to be defended. If I believed they had anything to do with Rachel’s murder I would be their strongest opponent
I am here today to declare that Columbine was not just a tragedy — it was a spiritual event that should be forcing us to look at where the real blame lies! Much of the blame lies here in this room. Much of the blame lies behind the pointing fingers of the accusers themselves. I wrote a poem just four nights ago that expresses my feelings best.

Your laws ignore our deepest needs,
Your words are empty air.
You’ve stripped away our heritage,
You’ve outlawed simple prayer.
Now gunshots fill our classrooms,
And precious children die.
You seek for answers everywhere,
And ask the question “Why?”
You regulate restrictive laws,
Through legislative creed.
And yet you fail to understand,
That God is what we need!

“Men and women are three-part beings. We all consist of body, mind, and spirit. When we refuse to acknowledge a third part of our make-up, we create a void that allows evil, prejudice, and hatred to rush in and wreak havoc. Spiritual presences were present within our educational systems for most of our nation’s history. Many of our major colleges began as theological seminaries. This is a historical fact.
What has happened to us as a nation? We have refused to honor God, and in so doing, we open the doors to hatred and violence. And when something as terrible as Columbine’s tragedy occurs — politicians immediately look for a scapegoat such as the NRA. They immediately seek to pass more restrictive laws that contribute to erode away our personal and private liberties. We do not need more restrictive laws.
Eric and Dylan would not have been stopped by metal detectors. No amount of gun laws can stop someone who spends months planning this type of massacre. The real villain lies within our own hearts.

“As my son Craig lay under that table in the school library and saw his two friends murdered before his very eyes, he did not hesitate to pray in school. I defy any law or politician to deny him that right! I challenge every young person in America , and around the world, to realize that on April 20, 1999, at Columbine High School prayer was brought back to our schools. Do not let the many prayers offered by those students be in vain. Dare to move into the new millennium with a sacred disregard for legislation that violates your God-given right to communicate with Him.

To those of you who would point your finger at the NRA — I give to you a sincere challenge.. Dare to examine your own heart before casting the first stone!
My daughter’s death will not be in vain! The young people of this country will not allow that to happen!”
– Darrell Scott

Do what the media did not – – let the nation hear this man’s speech. Please share this with your FB friends!  Via Dennis Peace with much thanks

The Fine Art of Giving A Shit

Smiley_Face_Emoticon4If you gave a shit, you would have less shit in your life.

If you give a shit on a continuous basis, just a little each day, you will have alot less shit in your life.  Makes sense doesn’t it?   Now imagine others noticing how much happier you were and asking, “what is different about you?”  You could turn to them and say with a big smile, “I decided to start giving a shit!”

What if just a few smiled, laughed and thought it was a good idea.  They would want to give it a try, wouldn’t they? I mean how simple and therapeutic is it, give a shit and be happy.  Go ahead say it out loud, “I give a shit!” now post it, “I give shit!”  Don’t be afraid, anyone that is old enough to read or understand speech for that matter, has heard “that kind of language”  and frankly the admiration you will generate for giving a shit, will far exceed the abuse you will take for using the word shit in public.

What if giving a shit caught on? T-shirts that say, “I give a  shit”, college classes called “Giving A Shit” would fill up fast!  A new  philosophy would spread wide and far and would mix love, empathy and inspiration with a giant sense of humor…hmmm there should probably be memorial to George Carlin lol!

Giving a shit starts with not giving a shit…ahhhh now we are getting into some deep shit.  Giving  a shit begins with you, being who you are and being happy. When the plane starts to go down, you put the mask on yourself first and then help others.  Does it sound like we are sending mixed signals now?  Let me break it down for you, live by example, be the change, be the ball, just be HAPPY damn it!  Now, go help others do the same.

Well, there is the thought of the day!  Try giving  a shit, 20 years from now you will laugh about the shit in your life, so why wait, start today.  For the record, THE GOOD WORD gives a shit, but we are NOT all uptight, we are human, we stumble,we fall and we get back up again. If the language offends you I do apologize because that was not my intention, I do however, reserve the right to laugh at and with you : )  We are passionate, caring and not above swearing to show we give a damn!

Love more, laugh lots and have a great day!

Coal Era Coming to An End

In board rooms across the country, electric companies are deciding that many coal plants, especially small, older ones, just don’t make economic sense any more. One factor is the expectation that low prices for natural gas will continue because of the shale gas boom across the country.

Another is that new federal rules require coal plants to clean up the mercury and other toxic chemicals in their exhausts. Installing those pollution controls makes no sense when gas is so cheap.

The shift has come faster than many electricity companies expected. Every year, utilities tell the government which plants they plan to close over the coming decade. Over the course of one year, their estimates of how much coal generation they would retire nearly tripled.

If all goes as planned, within a few years only a third of the company’s power plants will run on coal. The company has already built three new natural gas plants. It’s expanding a nuclear plant and going bigger into solar and wind, Williams says.

The dramatic and swift shift away from coal at Georgia Power is part of a nationwide trend: After decades in which coal was king of electricity generation, natural gas is making a bid for the title. And it’s scoring big, unexpected wins in places like Georgia, where coal was especially dominant.

“We’re seeing that across the board, regardless of the size of the companies,” says Quin Shea, vice president for environment at the Edison Electric Institute, the industry’s trade group.

The development already has shrunk the electricity industry’s environmental footprint and reduced prices on wholesale power.   Get The Full Story
